Marble Mountains - an awesome spot in Da Nang

Marble Mountains is an essential stop if coming to Da Nang. It is a well-reputation pilgrimage site with peaks, caves, tunnels and temples and represent 5 elements of the universe: water, wood, fire, metal and earth, wood, water, fire and earth, Marble Mountains exist in a coastal area that is renowned for stone-cutting and sculpture about 9km south of Da Nang.

According to legendary, a dragon rose from the water on Non Nuoc Beach and laid an egg. A thousand days and a thousand nights followed before the egg hatched, and out stepped a beautiful girl. The remaining fragments of the shell on the beach and eventually gave off the five mystical Marble Mountains.

Traveling in Da Nang City, one of the most popular must try entertainment cum sport is climbing up the Marble Mountains and enjoying panoramic across NonNuoc (a.k.a My Khe Beach). Being home to pagodas dating back to the 17th  century and a number of caves, the mountain of water is one the most favourite climbs with a steep hike up stone steps to Tam Quan Gate and its superb vistas to Mount Kim Son or Metal Mountain and the coastline from the Riverview Tower located next to the gate. The Riverview Tower dates back to the 18th century and the domination of the Emperor Minh Mang.

On the next side of Marble Mountains is Van Nguyet Grotto which is a nice resting spot where you can grab a fresh coconut to drink. The Lantern Cave is also good to take a look, small but deep and filled with lava along with Am Phu Cave which heads down to a very scenic viewpoint. Remarks: You should allow up to four hours to explore all of Undoubted, the best time to climbed up Marble Mountains is in early when it is not so hot and of course wear comfortable shoes, and if you can, bring a torch. Don’t wear flip flops nor sandals. A pair of trainers will suitable. Take a bottle of water and a camera that is charged and make sure that has an empty SD card as there will be plenty of photo opportunities. Vietnamese children sell souvenirs at Marble Mountains and you cannot expect to be hassled free until you've either bought a gift or 'tipped' them a few dollars for a 'guided

o For transportation: If you have the own scooter or Harley you will probably be chatted up by an older lady, who will drive next to you for the last 2 minutes and ask you where you are from etc. She will then lead you to a parking lot. Do not park there as it is much more expensive than a parking, which is located just outside the Am Phu Cave. This one is only 2,000 VND.
